Lithuania, 2024
This summer, Rasa invited me to spend a weekend with her and her family in Lithuania—a country I was visiting for the first time. Having known her for nearly seven years, we had shared countless moments together with her family in their London home, and it was special to experience their world in her motherland.
As a photographer, I had always dreamed of capturing a portrait of the four generations of women in Rasa’s family, but fate had other plans. Sadly, the visit was marked by the loss of Rasa’s maternal grandmother, who passed away before she could be with her one last time. It was an honour to be able to come together with her family to remember the matriarch’s life with love and shared memories about their childhood as we walked into the forest to the house where her mother grew up in.
Despite the short trip, spending time with them in their homeland was an incredibly inspiring and moving experience, one I will always cherish.
